Cylinder selection depends on the usable stored volume, simultaneous draw-off, recovery time and coil performance at the proposed heat-pump temperatures. A litres-per-person rule alone is not a design. Specify the actual occupancy and usage pattern, pressure, space, electrical backup and future demand.
Hygiene and commissioning
Agree the hygiene strategy with a competent designer under the applicable local rules and the cylinder and heat-pump instructions. There is no universal storage temperature or weekly disinfection schedule suitable for every dwelling and commercial system. Where higher temperatures are required, verify which heat source supplies them, the available capacity, scald protection and operating cost.
Evidence for the quotation
Ask for a recovery calculation, a compatible coil specification, the hydraulic schematic and commissioning checks. Record controls, sensor positions, safety devices and service access. If an all-in-one water heater is proposed, confirm its intended application and source-air requirements rather than assuming it replaces every indirect cylinder.

Before requesting a project quotation
| Check | Information to prepare |
|---|---|
| Project scope | State the country, project type, operating conditions and required delivery date. Identify which decisions still need an installer or designer. |
| Topic-specific evidence | draw-off demand, recovery calculations and a hygiene strategy |
| Responsibility and acceptance | Record who supplies, installs, commissions and services the equipment. Ask which documents and checks are included, and confirm exclusions in writing. |
This checklist helps define a request; it is not a model performance claim, installation design or promise of availability.
